This month Wave 105’s charity Cash for Kids, in partnership with Thomas Cook Airlines and Hamleys toy shop, took 110 disadvantaged children from along the south coast on a once in a life time journey aboard Thomas Cook’s Flight of Dreams.

The annual Flight of Dreams gives children from disadvantaged backgrounds or those with special educational needs the opportunity to go on a festive flight over the UK. The children and their families were selected by Cash for Kids from the chosen local charities, Southern Domestic Abuse Service, KIDS, Mosaic and Community First New Forest Young Carers, to take a one hour flight from London Stanstead Airport. During their time on the aircraft the children received a visit from Santa and his elves and joined in on some fun activities.

Two other Flight of Dreams trips have flown in December, departing from Manchester and Glasgow airports. Aoife McDonogh, Thomas Cook Airlines charitable relations manager, said: “It’s been a wonderful series of flights this year, at Manchester, Glasgow and Stansted airports. We’ve been lucky enough to find Santa on all occasions and give our passengers a truly magical and memorable day and do our little bit to improve the lives of children and young people at Christmas.”

Mari-Louise, Cash for Kids charity manager, said: “It’s fantastic to be a part of such an enjoyable day. The children are so deserving of this treat and we hope we’ve helped them make memories they’ll never forget.”
