Visit Dorset, the partnership responsible for promoting Dorset, is set to bring its third, free business event which celebrates digital marketing in the tourism industry, to the Nothe Fort in Weymouth on Wednesday November 29.
Attendees will be invited to listen to a panel of leading industry speakers through an ‘on the sofa’ debate, which will cover a range of topics on digital marketing in the tourism industry. The event will also focus on the impact digital innovation and marketing can have on a tourism business in Dorset.
Confirmed speakers for Weymouth include Will Hyde from the Dorset County Show, Andrew Knowles from Dorset Social, Angela Barnard from Clearvision and Chris Boud from eviivo. The Visit Dorset team will also be on hand to answer questions about the website and how the tourism partnership brings many benefits to its members.
An ‘on the sofa’ debate will be facilitated by Nigel Barker, digital marketing adviser for Department of International Trade in the South West. The debates will all be beginner friendly, covering social media, digital engagement, strategy development and how to generate more bookings.
The Nothe Fort roadshow event on November 29 is fully booked but Visit Dorset encourages tourism businesses that are interested in attending to register their interest for the waiting list at https://visit-dorset-weymouth.eventbrite.co.uk
Steven Booth, manager at Nothe Fort, commented: “We’re delighted to be hosting the final Visit Dorset event of 2017 at Nothe Fort. We attended the first event at Athelhampton House earlier in the year and found it really beneficial to hear from other local businesses sharing similar issues and it gave delegates great opportunities to share best practice going forwards with digital marketing.
“We’re pleased to be able to offer attendees the opportunity for a tour of Weymouth’s historic sea fort after the event has finished. This will be a great way to round off the inspirational day.”
Nick Thornley, on behalf of the Visit Dorset Tourism Partnership, said: “We have welcomed many tourism businesses over the past few months to our events at the Hall & Woodhouse Brewery in Blandford, and The Kings Arms in Christchurch, as well as earlier this year to Athelhampton House where we launched our re-developed website. It has been great so see so many people keen to share their experiences and find out how best to use social media in their business.
“Our event on November 29 will provide tourism businesses with the opportunity to learn more about digital technology and how it can work for them, so for anyone interested in finding out more, please do get in touch. We hope to be streaming some live footage from the event on our Facebook page, so anyone who is interested should visit our page www.facebook.com/VisitDorset.”
Visit Dorset supports local businesses by providing a platform for visitors to easily plan and book their visit to Dorset. The official tourism website for Dorset, www.visit-dorset.com, receives over two million visits each year and is now fully responsive after a revamp earlier this year. The website includes a new dedicated industry area providing a hub of up to date information and resources for Dorset’s tourism trade.
