We’ve had Ellie Law with us for the last week on a work experience placement… here’s what she had to say about the experience.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Liz Lean PR – it has flown by. As I am in my first year at college, studying Business, I was encouraged to find a work experience placement in order to enhance my knowledge and get some experience in an area of work that I am interested in. Prior to my work placement here I didn’t know a lot about PR so I was very eager to find out more about it. Having spent the week here at Liz Lean, I have learnt that PR is a career I definitely want to pursue in the future, so it has been an extremely valuable experience for me to be able to work with the team and experience an office environment. Everyone at Liz Lean was incredibly welcoming, friendly and I felt at ease straight away. I was very well taken care of and the whole team made sure I had tasks to be getting on with which kept me busy throughout the day.
One of the tasks included drafting a press release for the Dolphin Shopping Centre and a NIB (News in Brief) for Nuffield Health Hospital. These were really great tasks to complete and I learnt that I really enjoy writing press releases. Another aspect of PR I really enjoyed was drafting social media posts for Talbot Village Trust and scheduling Instagram posts for them.
Overall, this week has been highly rewarding, fun and I have learnt so much. Before my work experience placement here at Liz Lean PR, I was still curious about what line of work I wanted to pursue but I now have a newfound interest and appreciation for PR and it is definitely a career I will be considering for the future.
Spending my work experience here has been so valuable and I want to say a big thank you to Liz and her lovely team (that includes Bryher the dog!) for giving me the opportunity to work here for the week, I am extremely grateful.
