Dorset’s Drewsons Building Maintenance has started the construction of a new car park and storage area on the Hedge End Retail Park near Southampton.
The firm, part of the renowned Drewitt Group which combines Drewlec Electrical Services, Drewsons Building Maintenance and Drewsons Plumbing and Heating Services is responsible for all routine maintenance within the grounds of the retail park. The Group was also recently awarded a contract to provide its plumbing, heating and electrical service requirements.
The works on the new ‘ground reinforcement system’ started in July and is due to complete by the end of September. It is being laid at the rear of the Marks and Spencer and Sainsbury’s stores to provide additional staff parking. In the run up to the busy Christmas period the area will also be used to provide additional stowing and shelter under temporary marquees.
Richard Drewitt, managing director of The Drewitt Group, said: “The new grid force parking solution is an eco-friendly option as it allows the grass to grow through the hexagonal grid and it also looks more aesthetically pleasing.”
Hedge End Retail Park centre manager Stuart Kybert explains that the additional storage will help ease congestion leading up to the festive period. He said: “The new parking and storage area is a welcome addition to the park and we hope that it will help to make the shopping experience a more pleasant one for consumers”
“Drewsons have been working on the site since it opened 23 years ago. In my experience they have always been extremely professional, attentive and are willing to go the extra mile to ensure the job is done. I would without a doubt recommend them to others.”
