Drewlec Electrical Services, part of the renowned Drewitt Group in Bournemouth, is sponsoring ‘Light up the Prom’ in aid of Bournemouth Hospital Charity and Macmillan Caring Locally on Friday October 24.

The firm, which is currently celebrating 50 years of providing electrical services to commercial clients in Dorset, Hampshire and southern central England, is supporting the event which encourages local people to donate a light as a way of remembering a loved one.

The lights will be added to a spectacular display on Bournemouth Pier on Pier Approach. The event is open to all and lights can be purchased at £5 each from the charity office at Bournemouth Hospital and the Macmillan unit at Christchurch Hospital. Those participating are asked to bring their lights to the seafront at 7.30pm.

A one minute silence will be held after the battery-operated lights have been switched on, which will be followed by a fireworks display.

Gillian Drewitt, managing director at The Drewitt Group, said: “We are delighted to sponsor this special memorial event in aid of two fantastic local charities. The work of the charities is second to none and is a great way of marking the 50th anniversary of the electrical and lighting part of our business.”

“We hope to encourage more people to attend the event as it is set to be a great display for all the family and a special way to remember a loved one who has passed away.”

The Drewitt Group was founded in 1877 and combines Drewlec Electrical Services, Drewsons Building Maintenance and Drewsons Plumbing and Heating Services.
