Past winners and sponsors are set to get together at the Victorian Barn, Woolland, near Sturminster Newton, this month for a reception to kick-start the 2012 Daily Echo-backed Dorset Business Awards, organised for the seventh year by Dorset Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Taking place on Wednesday June 27, the launch event sponsored by Tower Park-based motor dealership Breeze Volkswagen will celebrate the achievements of former winners and reveal this year’s Award categories.  Guests will have the opportunity to network with other business professionals, listen to guest speakers and hear more about this year’s categories, which aim to recognise firms and individuals who have demonstrated commitment and determination to drive their business forward.

The Awards were established 18 years ago to find the region’s top business leaders, companies, employers and entrepreneurs and have attracted an exceptional level of entries from some of Dorset’s top performing companies.  Award sponsors for 2012 are Bournemouth University, the Dorset Chamber of Commerce and Industry, J.P. Morgan, KPMG, Liz Lean PR, Nuffield Health Bournemouth Hospital, Princecroft Willis and Superior as well as newcomers Barclays, the Dolphin Shopping Centre, Hays and Lloyds Bank.  The Bournemouth Daily Echo and Wave 105 remain on-board as media sponsors with the Dorset Echo confirmed as a supporter. RT Media have become the new Dorset Business Award website sponsor.

John Corderoy, managing director of Breeze Volkswagen, says: “The Dorset Business Awards have gained a reputation as the most coveted business accolade.  As such, we are delighted to be associated with the 2012 launch event which will signal the opening of the entry process to this year’s competition.  By supporting the launch of the Awards it provides us with the opportunity to reinforce the strong relationships we have with corporate customers locally.”

Peter Scott, chief executive of the Dorset Chamber of Commerce and Industry, says: “The launch of our regional business Awards is always an exciting moment for us and it’s great to have Breeze Volkswagen sponsoring this event this year.  The event attracts the cream of Dorset’s businesses every year.

“Economic conditions have never been tougher, but this competition always unearths great examples of businesses which are doing extremely well against the odds.  The resilience of Dorset business is genuinely encouraging, and our Awards offer firms the recognition they deserve.

“Without the support of such a distinguished group of sponsors the event would not be possible, and we wish to thank them.  We’re looking forward to the official launch of the 2012 Awards at the end of June.”

Entries for the Dorset Business Awards will open on Monday July 2 via the Awards website, and will close on Friday September 14.  Companies interested in finding out more about the launch event or further sponsorship opportunities should contact Shirley Ewart on 01202 714812.
