To mark its commitment in sponsoring the 2015 World Team Cycle Speedway Cup, the Dolphin Shopping Centre will be holding a Poole Cycle Speedway event on Saturday July 18.

Poole has become home to a hotbed of cycle talent, and with the World Team Cycle Speedway Cup returning to Poole for the first time in 20 years, the Dolphin Shopping Centre is keen to support what has been a popular sport in Poole since the 1940s.

At Saturday’s event, shoppers will have the chance to meet with riders from the team, learn more about the history of Poole Cycle Speedway and even have a go their very own speed trial cycle thanks to Everyone Active bringing two static bikes into the shopping centre.

Commenting on the sponsorship, Dolphin Centre manager John Grinnell said: “Poole has become known locally and internationally for the success of its Cycle Speedway and we’re thrilled to be associated with the prestigious 2015 World Cup.”

Riders from across the world will be heading to Poole for the four day competition which takes place at Harbourside Park on Thursday July 30 to Sunday August 2.

The World Cup takes place every two years, where five world class riders compete in teams for their respective countries, including England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Poland and Australia.

Poole’s two time British Champion Gavin Wheeler will be lining up for England alongside 2013 British under-16 champion and regular Poole first team rider, Aaron Smith, the son of former Poole Pirates speedway rider Kevin Smith.
