The Dolphin Shopping Centre in Poole has been shortlisted for two prestigious awards at this year’s Purple Apple Marketing Awards.
The national awards recognise effective shopping and town centre marketing within the UK, and praise how marketers have driven forward sales and harnessed new initiatives such as digital marketing.
A rigorous criteria is used to judge the entrants, which includes community relations, effective advertising and marketing campaigns.
The first of the awards nominated, recognises the Dolphin Centre’s Eco Lounge event whereby an empty unit was brought back to life with a quarter of a tonne of recycled materials. More than 750 children were inspired to be green and get creative from building bottle furniture, producing purses from milk cartons, wallpapering with magazines, to creating toilet roll puppets and making paper plants.
The second award, shortlists the shopping centre in the Strategic Marketing category, which focuses on planned objectives such as brand building and increasing sales, together with budgeting and creative design.
Centre manager John Grinnell, said: “I’m thrilled that we’ve been shortlisted for not one, but two awards – it really is testament to how well our team works together and how successful we’ve been as a shopping centre.
“We try to harness a creative approach to everything we do, whether it is our marketing strategies or our innovative family events. Raising the profile of our centre, and the retailers we have here, is our number one aim as a shopping destination.”
The Purple Apple Marketing Awards ceremony is to be held on May 7 at The Brewery in London.
