The Dolphin shopping centre in Poole is reporting soaring sales on summer accessories as temperatures rise.

With the weather in Dorset hotter than Ibiza, Beales sold 149 pieces of beachwear and more than 50 paddling pools during the first weekend in July.

The centre’s dedicated surf shop, Animal, also achieved a high number of sales selling 128 t-shirts and 66 pairs of flipflops.

Aside from clothing, Shakeaway, the milkshake and smoothie bar in Kingland Crescent, had a record weekend and helped refresh more than 600 customers with ice cold drinks.

John Grinnell, Dolphin centre manager, said: “The weather has a huge impact on customer choices. We have waited a while to enjoy some sunshine and I think everyone is relieved to finally be making the most of it.”
