The Dolphin Shopping Centre was keen to mark its support for its charity of the year, Margaret Green Animal Rescue Centre, by sponsoring a class at the local charity’s Annual Companion Dog Show and Family Fun Day.
On Sunday August 2, more than 1,600 people, and their dogs, turned out to the Church Knowle Rehoming and Visitor Centre to take part in a host of pedigree and novelty dog show classes.
The Dolphin Shopping Centre sponsored the ‘Dog with the Waggiest Tail’ class and received more than 30 four-legged entries, all competin g for the waggiest tail title.
Centre manager John Grinnell presented the winner – Jasper the Labrador, owned by James and Matthew Parker – with his rosette.
Commenting on Margaret Green’s Annual Companion Dog Show and Family Fun Day, John Grinnell said: “It was a fantastic day, the sun was shining and there were so many well-behaved dogs. It was very hard selecting the winner of our class, but Jasper did an excellent job and really proved he did have the waggiest tail.
“The team at the centre are very fond of animals – it is great to support a worthy charity and raise awareness of Margaret Green.”
Kate Cross, fundraising officer for Margaret Green Animal Rescue, added: “The Dolphin Shopping has been brilliant at supporting us during our 50th anniversary and we are so grateful they chose us as their charity of the year.”
