The Dolphin Shopping Centre is supporting Dorset’s furry friends-in-need this Christmas, by appealing for shoebox donations for the dogs and cats at Margaret Green Animal Rescue; one of the centre’s 2015 charities of the year.

Those who’d like to make a puppy-dog wag its tail or a cat purr with happiness are being asked to fill a shoebox or small container with treats and toys such as tennis balls, Nylabones and squeaky toys for dogs and catnip mice, ping-pong balls and grooming brushes for cats.

Donations should be dropped off with Dolphin Shopping Centre management before Monday 21st December.  Shoeboxes can also be delivered to either of the Margaret Green Animal Rescue Centres direct.

Margaret Green Animal Rescue has been receiving support from the Dolphin Shopping Centre throughout the year, in the form of food donations and fundraising. In addition to receiving shoebox donations, the Centre will also host a Teddy Tombola in aid of the charity on Sunday December 13, from 10am.

Kate Cross, fundraising and marketing officer for Margaret Green Animal Rescue, said: “At this time of year we see an increase in animals coming into our care and less people looking to give a rescued pet a forever home. We are asking for kind members of the public to help our four-legged residents this year, by filling a shoebox with goodies for the pets that are with us over the festive period. Each pet that is with us on Christmas Day will receive their own present and have fun opening them!”

Centre manager of the Dolphin Shopping, John Grinnell, added: “It’s been a pleasure to welcome Margaret Green Animal Rescue to the shopping centre as one of our charities of the year and as 2015 and our partnership draws to a close, we’re keener than ever to help out where we can in December.”
