With just one day to go, the countdown has begun for the launch of Dorset’s first private cardiac catheter suite.

Liverpool football legend Graeme Souness will officially open the new cardiac facility in front of invited guests at Nuffield Health Bournemouth Hospital on Wednesday January 20.

Nuffield Health Bournemouth is the first private hospital in the UK to invest in state-of-the-art Artis Q for interventional cardiology.

The Sky Sports pundit and guests to the exclusive event will have the opportunity to meet key consultants and hospital staff while viewing the new facilities.

Hospital Director at Nuffield Health Bournemouth David McNair said: “The introduction of our high tech cardiac catheter suite is a huge investment for the Hospital which will provide vital cardiac support to the residents of Dorset. We are looking forward to welcoming Graeme Souness, along with all our invited guests at the exclusive event on Wednesday evening.”

Part of a major £5 million renovation project, the addition of the cardiac catheter suite to the hospital’s comprehensive list of contemporary treatment options will enable patients to receive a full cardiac service, including echo, out-patient diagnostic and an in-patient day case cardiology facility.

Cardiac Services Manager Norma Cox added: “From having the privacy of their own room, to ease of parking, patients receive the full private patient experience from the moment they arrive. A big part of cardiac disease is waiting to be treated. If you’ve been told you need something done, then you want it done straight away. At Nuffield, the procedures are done in a timely fashion.”

Those who wish to be treated within the new cardiac catheter suite are advised to seek a referral from their GP and contact the Nuffield Health Bournemouth Hospital customer service team on 01202 375032 for further information.
