The countdown has begun to the Wave 105 Cash for Kids ‘once in a lifetime’ Madagascar challenge. From Saturday May 16 a team of 30 intrepid explorers are set to cycle 450km through the National Parks of Madagascar to raise vital funds for disadvantaged children across the south.

The cycle will see the group take part in a five day ride across the north east of the African island, where they’ll get to explore tropical fruit plantations, paddy fields, highland villages and coastal paths, while raising much needed funds for charity.

Wave 105’s morning show presenter, Mark Collins, will be leading the group. This is the fourth time he has led an expedition. So far he has trekked the Sahara Desert in Morocco, cycled 328km across South East Asia, and has also trekked the Inca Trail in Peru to Machu Picchu.

Mark comments: “I feel hugely privileged to be a part of this latest challenge. These trips are often physically and emotionally demanding, but they’re a pleasure to take part in – there aren’t many occasions where you can meet a wonderful group of people, travel through some beautiful destinations, and raise money for an extremely worthy cause.”

Wave 105 Cash for Kids charity manager, Gloria Hill, adds: “Huge thanks to Mark and the group that are set to take on this adventure for Cash for Kids.  We’re thrilled as we’ve reached a fantastic sum of more than £95,000 for our charity so far. The donations have been overwhelming, and we’re hoping to raise even more for less fortunate children in the area. We are immensely grateful to all of those who have donated so far.”

Wave 105 Cash for Kids supports local children, under the age of 18 who are financially, socially, emotionally or physically disadvantaged. Since its launch in November 2008, the charity has helped to raise over one million pounds.
