Tapper Funeral Service’s Harbour View Woodland Burial Ground has been shortlisted as one of 80 national finalists from 2,000 entries in this year’s South and South East in Bloom competition.
The annual competition, which is sponsored by Southern Water, sees more than 1,000 cities, towns and villages across the south and south east showcase their achievements in environmental responsibility, community participation and horticultural achievement.
Last year Harbour View was presented a prestigious silver gilt award in the competition and this year the local funeral directors is hoping to win gold in the large cemetery category.
Steven Tapper, joint managing director at Tapper Funeral Service, said: “The team at Harbour View Woodland Burial Ground work incredibly hard maintaining the site. Last year we were only three points short of the 170 required for the top gold award, which is pleasing for a first-time entry.”
Harbour View is no ordinary burial ground or funeral facility; it is fortunate to occupy a position that enjoys a host of wildlife and nature along with dramatic views of the lagoon areas of Poole Harbour, the Purbeck Hills and Corfe Castle.
