A series of special screenings are set to be shown at ODEON Dorchester this month (April).  For those interested in ballet, Shakespeare’s classics and history, a visit to the Brewery Square-based cinema is a must this April.

‘Richard II’ was on stage at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in November and an encore screening will be shown at the cinema on Monday April 14 at 7.30pm.   With David Tennant in the title role, this production proved hugely popular on stage.  It was filmed using multiple cameras around the stage and auditorium, and as a result cinema-goers will feel like they have the best seat in the house.

Richard is King, ordained by God to lead his people. But he is also a man of very human weakness. A man whose vanity threatens to divide the great houses of England and drag his people into a dynastic civil war that will last 100 years.

On Thursday April 24 at 7pm, the cinema audience will be given an exclusive, expertly guided live tour of the British Museum’s new blockbuster Vikings exhibition.  The British Museum’s spectacular ‘Vikings: Life and Legend’ exhibition will offer an extraordinary insight into how these great warriors shaped our modern lives.

The final special screening in April will be a live performance of the Royal Opera House ballet production of ‘The Winter’s Tale’, the first ballet to be based upon this Shakespearian play.  On Monday April 28 at 7.15pm, guests will be able to enjoy this romantic tragedy of love, loss and reconciliation from the comfort of their local cinema.

Alan Escott, general manager at the ODEON Dorchester, says: “We’re delighted to bring these spectacular performances to Dorchester. We aim to provide local cinema-goers with a varied choice of the very best music and theatre productions from the stage to complement the movie blockbusters.

“With our excellent bar facilities, the cinema makes a perfect evening for theatre viewing.  We look forward to welcoming guests to enjoy these productions in the comfort of our venue.”
