With the launch of the Volkswagen up!, the new Beetle and the latest Golf GTI Cabriolet, 2012 has been an exciting for Tower Park-based motor dealership Breeze Volkswagen.

The Volkswagen up! is the motor manufacturer’s smallest car to date and has won numerous awards since its launch, winning special praise for its combination of small footprint, big interior space and innovative City Emergency Braking system. Awards include 2012 World Car of the Year, What Car? Car of the Year for 2012, Best City Car in the 2012 Fleet World Honours as well as small/city car accolades from Car Buyer website and from the UK’s best-selling motoring title, TopGear magazine.

With an exceptional top five-star rating from Euro NCAP for vehicle safety, the Volkswagen up! offers space for four, the latest technology and highly economical engines. Priced from £7,995 and retail customers using Volkswagen Finance’s Solutions PCP package can get into an up! from just £79 a month. The up! is available with two 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine options as well as a BlueMotion technology version; it has three doors and three trim levels – Take up!, Move up! and High up! – plus a special edition, the up! black and up! white.

The latest generation Beetle moves away from design of the New Beetle of 1998 and instead draws on cues from the original Beetle launched in 1938, of which more than 21.5 million were sold. The new version has a longer stance, lower roofline and is longer, giving a more masculine and dynamic appearance.

Two engines are currently available – a 1.2-litre TSI 105 PS mated to a seven-speed DSG transmission and a 1.4-litre 160 PS TSI with a six-speed manual gearbox. Three trim levels are also available: Beetle, Design and Sport and prices start from £16,600.

The original Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet, launched in 1979, became a hugely successful Volkswagen convertible with 684,000 vehicles sold in the UK. The new Golf Cabriolet soft-top joined the Eos hard-top convertible and the revival of this two-door car last summer was eagerly awaited. The line-up expands this summer to include the fastest production Golf Cabriolet yet, with the arrival of the GTI model.

With a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine prices start at £29,310 for the manual version. Zero to 62 mph sprint is covered in 7.3 seconds with either transmission, while top speed is 147 mph (146 mph for the DSG).

The Golf Cabriolet offers four seats and includes ABS with ESP and front and side as well as driver’s knee airbags, an insulated fully automatic electrically powered roof which can be folded away in just 9.5 seconds, even while travelling at speeds of up to 18 mph, 18 inch alloy wheels and among other items.

John Corderoy, managing director at Breeze Volkswagen, says: “With the Volkswagen up! receiving numerous awards, the latest generation Beetle harking back to the original Beetle and the arrival of the fastest production Golf Cabriolet – the GTI, it is an exciting time for Breeze Volkswagen as these are all fantastic models for Volkswagen. At Breeze Volkswagen we deliver a highly personal approach to business, which ultimately results in the provision of outstanding levels of customer care, and as a result we look forward to welcoming people to the showroom to find out more about these latest cars.”
