The Bournemouth & Poole College hosted a complimentary event where businesses of all sizes and sectors gathered to find out everything there is to know about the introduction of the apprenticeship levy, launching next year.

More than 60 attendees from a diverse range of local firms had the opportunity to fully understand what these changes mean for their business going forward, and to discuss at length with The Bournemouth & Poole College Business Enterprise team any questions they may have regarding the levy.

Theresa Moore, director of apprenticeships from The Bournemouth & Poole College, explained: ‘‘Apprenticeship vacancies in England are rising by almost 25 per cent each year, subsequently to help fund this increase the government is due to launch the apprenticeship levy. From April 2017, businesses with an annual payroll of more than three million pounds will have to pay 0.5 per cent of its payroll into an apprenticeship levy.

‘‘These changes will have a fundamental impact on how apprenticeships are delivered, the way they are funded and how businesses select a training provider. ‘’

Matt Butcher, sales and customer account manager from The Bournemouth & Poole College, added: ‘‘As the largest apprenticeship provider in Dorset, The Bournemouth & Poole College has extensive experience to ensure we offer the required support through this change to businesses and students who are wishing to sign up for an apprenticeship.’’
