Wave 105 listeners and supporters of the station’s charity, Cash for Kids, have so far helped to raise more than £27,000 through the annual Cash for Kids auction day.

Listeners were given the opportunity to call in to place their bids throughout the day on many ‘money can’t buy’ items, with new items being auctioned off every hour.

The top bids included: £1,500 on a F1 Grand Prix qualifying day, £800 for Andy Mackenzie to cook in the lucky bidder’s home for eight people, and £1,100 on tickets for the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2015.

While the on-air auction is now closed, the online auction remains open until 8pm on Thursday October 16. There are plenty of items up for grabs including: a signed CD from 5 Seconds of Summer, signed photos of Kian from Westlife and Sam Smith, four tickets to take part in a ghost walk at Wymering in Hampshire, a rib boat ride for up to six people, and six tickets to see Wicked at The Mayflower in Southampton.

Wave 105 Cash for Kids charity manager, Gloria Hill, says: “We all had a fantastic day yesterday and the phone was ringing off the hook. Every year we are overwhelmed by the generosity of our charity supporters and Wave 105 listeners, this year was no exception.

“The on-air auction may be over for this year, but there is still chance to grab an exciting prize online. All money raised from both parts of the auction will go towards supporting children and adolescents in our region.”
