The Wave 105 Cash for Kids team are calling on supporters and Wave 105 listeners to join them in becoming superheroes for a day on Thursday May 1.

The charity is encouraging as many individuals, schools and businesses from across the region to get involved by making a donation and donning their favourite superhero outfit for the day.

Wave 105 Cash for Kids has also joined forces with a host of Tesco Express stores across Dorset and Hampshire where staff will be digging out their best superhero fancy dress to fundraise and support the initiative.

Wave 105’s charity manager, Gloria Hill, said: “We have decided to turn our annual Cash for Kids day into the first ever Cash for Kids Superhero Day and we hope to get as many people as possible on board. Even if supporters don’t own a superhero outfit, they can still get involved by adorning themselves in Lycra or by wearing their pants over their trousers and making a donation.

“We’re encouraging all participants to get in touch with us on the day by sending in their photos and any fundraising activities they’re taking part in, as we’ll be building an online photo gallery to celebrate. The Wave 105 team will be getting involved too and some of the presenters may even make some ‘flying’ visits to the businesses and schools that are taking part with some Cadbury Heroes rewards…! Our aim is to raise as much as possible for disadvantaged children in the south to make a difference to their lives.”

Wave 105 Cash for Kids believes that all children across the region should have the chance to live life to the full and reach their individual potential. The charity supports thousands of children from birth to 18 years old who are ill, disabled, underprivileged or who simply need extra care and guidance. This is done by providing grants to individual children, other children’s charities, community groups and health organisations. Last year Wave 105 Cash for Kids raised more than £520,000 locally and touched the lives of up to 17,000 children.
