Following the success of Britain’s 12 Years A Slave at this year’s Golden Globe Awards, tickets are now on sale for this award-winning film at the ODEON Dorchester in advance of its official release date (Friday January 24).
The film 12 Years A Slave took the Golden Globe for best drama, one of the most sought-after Golden Globes, and is now tipped as the forerunner for the Oscar movie of the year.
Directed by British director Steve McQueen the film tells the powerful true story of a free man, Solomon Northup (Chirwetel Ejiofor), who was captured and sold into slavery in pre-Civil War America. Facing cruelty as well as unexpected kindnesses, Solomon struggles not only to stay alive, but to retain his dignity. In the 12th year of his unforgettable odyssey, Solomon’s chance meeting with a Canadian abolitionist (Brad Pitt) will forever alter his life.
Alan Escott, general manager at the ODEON Dorchester, says: “As a result of taking the top movie drama award at the Golden Globes, we have started to receive enquiries on the ticket release date of this much-anticipated film. We’re pleased to open ticket sales one week in advance of the film’s release date.
“This is a must-see film and with our ticket prices at £2.00 on a Tuesday and starting from £3.00 on all other days I’m sure it will be hugely popular.”
